ENC Announces Richmond VA Extension Site

June 25, 2020

Eastern Nazarene College announces the final approval from New England Commission of Higher Education and the State Council for Higher Education in Virginia to open an extension site in Richmond, Virginia this fall. The site is part of the 210+ acre property of the Southside Church of the Nazarene and its affiliate, Guardian Christian Academy, an existing Pre-K through Grade 12 private school. Initial planning for the site began in fall 2017 when conducted market research determined a demand for degree-completion programs in the Richmond area. In response to the need, ENC intends to offer continuing education programs in Richmond which were developed following the 2+2 model already in use in Massachusetts which has provided hundreds of students with a realistic pathway for completing a bachelor’s degree. The extension site allows the College to remain relevant in today’s expanding higher education landscape, while also serving growing denominational support in the Church of the Nazarene’s Virginia District.

Using a cohort, hybrid model, the College will offer three undergraduate degree-completion programs – BA in Management, BS in Business Administration, and BA in Christian Ministry – and an MS in Management at the site. The facilities, combined with a vibrant church ministry, allow for a unique opportunity for ENC to partner with both Southside Church of the Nazarene and Guardian Christian Academy to provide dual enrollment opportunities for Guardian Christian Academy high school students; business degree-completion opportunities for congregants and local adult students; and a two-year intensive ministry preparation program.

The Richmond site will act solely as an extension of the Quincy campus and will be held to the same mission of the Quincy campus. All curriculum offered at the Richmond site will be developed, designed, and approved by the appropriate departments at the Quincy campus. To the greatest extent possible, courses will have synchronized schedules between the two locations to encourage combined courses and program comparability. In addition, shared classrooms and access to videoconferencing equipment and high-speed internet will be available to connect ENC’s Richmond students and faculty with those at the Quincy campus.

The College has set a Term 1 enrollment goal of 19 students for the three undergraduate degree completion programs at the Richmond site and plan to grow the cohorts to 55 students in three years. For more information and application details email
